Since New Year is approaching, I thought it was the right time to share with you another makeup tutorial.
This one has it all. It’s shiny, it’s glamorous and most importantly – it’s easy!
This is an in-depth, step-by-step makeup tutorial explaining how to create a silver shiny eyeshadow look. It also includes a review of these products and why I use them.I called this look “Grunge Glamour” because the main eyeshadow palette I used for the look is called like that, and the overall makeup really gives off that vibe.

It’s time to welcome 2019 in style with this perfect makeup look for New Year.
STEP 1 – Foundation & concealer
|After applying the foundation
In the first step, you have to add some basic face makeup. I have dry skin so a liquid foundation is the best for me. I usually apply it with a foundation brush and use my fingers to blend it. I think that beauty blenders and brushes usually just take half of the makeup off your face.
I’m using Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation in the shade of 03 True Ivory. This foundation matches my skin perfectly, I got it at Stockmann (basically, Finnish Sephora) and it really feels like satin on my skin. It’s light-weight, lasts pretty long and hides my imperfections almost perfectly. And as you can see on the pic, I’ve been using it for a while, time to get a new one!
For the concealer, I am using Alverde Coverstick, shade 01 Naturelle. I love it because it really highlights the dark circles and gives extra hide to small pimples.
STEP 2 – Contour & highlight
I usually don’t even use contours of any kind, but if I do I use powder. The powder is better when you are going to a party because it won’t look cakey when you get the sweat from dancing and I like it because it is pretty subtle.
Cream contour makes the contour look very fake on the fair skin and that is why I don’t like it as much. I used the darkest shade from Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Contour kit, the first one on the right side.
From the same palette, I used the highlighter and of course, for the same reasons.
STEP 3 – Eyebrows
For eyebrows, I always use the simplest eyebrow pencil because I truly think that the pencil is the best choice for a natural look. Cream eyebrow makeup can make the eyebrows look fake and sticky and powder makes them look too smooth.
When you are “creating” your eyebrows, make sure to always follow the lines of the hairs to get a natural look. It’s important that you pluck your eyebrows in the desired shape each time and not over or under pluck them.
I use PuroBio Cosmetics 28 Matita Sopracciglia eyebrow pencil. The shade is a bit darker than I’d like it, but it always looks the shade lighter when you are buying it in a store under the lighting. So there’s one hack for you.
STEP 4 – Eyeshadow part 1 (silver base)
The first step in the “eyes tutorial” is to put the base eyeshadow color. The palette I use is Wet’n’Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio and the shade for the silver shine makeup is the first one on the top.
It is a very pigmented color, so make sure to put only one or two layers on each part of the eyelid. Always follow the line of your eyelid and go just a bit over in the outer corners, but never too much. Keep it simple.
STEP 5 – Eyeshadow part 2 (medium blue)
|Yes, I’ve been loving the beige parts a lot!
Probably the best shade that goes with cool silver color is blue. You can never go wrong with silver and blue eyeshadow combo. For the second part, I’m using Rimmel Magnif’Eyes 003 Grunge Glamour palette.
That name really describes my style. When it comes to this palette, focus on the first two shades from the right. The medium and dark blue. They have a bit of shimmer which truly adds to the look.
Place the medium blue shade on the outer corners and a bit in the middle of your eyelids like I did below and don’t go too much out of the line, create a nice circle.
STEP 6 – Eyeshadow part 3 (dark blue)
For the third part of the “eyeshadow tutorial”, use the dark blue shade from the Rimmel palette. Place it again in the outer corners, but unlike the previous one don’t go at all in the middle.
Now, you had created a nice sculpt.
STEP 7 – Eyeshadow part 4 (white)
This is the last step of the “eyeshadow part”. To finish this beautiful look, you have to put white shade in the inner corners of the eyelids. I use the white shade from the Rimmel palette, too.
STEP 8 – Eyeliner
To create a bit of an eyeliner look, I use Essence 2 in 1 Eyeliner Pen in the shade of black, the thin part. This is not a dramatic eyeliner look, it’s just to add a bit of the smokey eye to it all.
Place the eyeliner to the middle of the eyelids by creating a thin line and add a short cat eye to the outer eyelids part.
STEP 9 – Eyelashes
For my lashes, I use Catrice Cosmetics Glam & Doll False Lashes Mascara Waterproof. I think it is a really good one, doesn’t create a huge effect, but definitely enriches your eyelashes.
STEP 10 – Lips
The choice of the lipstick went to Catrice Cosmetics Ultimate Color 034 Berry Bradshaw. This is a cream lipstick with some shimmer. I love it because it definitely goes with the silver look.
The hair is messy, the makeup is shiny and the top is black. Talk about “Grunge Glamour”! I honestly love this look!
